My bird photography tutorials are aimed at helping people who are starting out in bird photography.
They were first published in the BirdGuides Webzine, and are still available in the webzine archive, but all except the first tutorial are available only to paying subscribers. By agreement with BirdGuides, I have made them freely available to you here:
Tutorial 3: Equipment (**Updated March 2010**)
Tutorial 8: Birds and Water (**Added October 2009**)
Tutorial 9: Flight shots (coming soon)
In addition to these tutorials, I recently had a series of articles published in Bird Watching Magazine, the UK's leading magazine for bird watchers. These articles are more basic than the ones above, as they were targeted at 'absolute beginners' (e.g. who may not have a Digital SLR camera). Again, Bird Watching has agreed to let me share them with you here:
Article 1: How to photograph wildfowl (10MB PDF)
Article 2: How to photograph garden birds (0.5MB PDF)
Article 3: How to photograph waders (0.5MB PDF)
Article 4: How to photograph raptors (1MB PDF)
